Native to a relatively small range in the mountains to the south and east of the Black Sea, Nordmann Fir is a large, conical evergreen, and one of the tallest tree species on the European continent, with some specimens reportedly reaching upwards of 250 feet-tall. It has become a popular ornamental tree for park and large garden plantings in Europe, and is one of the continent’s most prized Christmas Tree species.
